Hi all I'm planning on sorting me out a pedal board near the end of this year and being OCD like I am, I like to plan things out and know exactly what I'm going to get and need to save for.
My question that I want to put to you guys is what should I use to power the pedals? I don't want to daisy chain, so a power supply is a must however finding one that powers every pedal seems to be a pain, esp when milliamps come into the equation.
The pedals I'm planning on getting are as follows:
- Line 6 X2 Wireless [9V DC 100mA (-)] (Finally Available in NZ )
- Korg Pitchblack [9V DC 600mA (-)] (This is the one that worries me the most with its huge mA rating)
- EHX Bass Blogger [9V DC 200mA (-)]
- MXR Carbon Copy [9V DC (-)] (Couldn't find mA rating for this, may use a cheaper delay, but still prefer true bypass)
So what power supply could power those all effectively? Also I dont want a huge supply, maybe 5 outlets at most to give me room to experiment.
Cheers in advance,
Thomas. |

It needs a seperate walwart, at least mine does anyways..

Maybe more than you need but you don't need to keep all the cables plugged in, just the ones you use. Plus, plugging in one IEC cable to power all your pedals is very cool.

im probably planning on putting it on a pedal train jr so have a limit to the physical size of the unit. (i could go custom and use a small flight case or something but i wana try keep it simple lol) |

maybe i'm wrong but as far as i know The Pitchblack turns itself off in bypass, but you'll still need to calculate with the full 35mA it uses when tuning.
so yeah, Pitchblack = 35mA
pls correct me if i'm wrong. i just read it from one of the threads at gear page.
P.S.
Carbon Copy = 26mA

The Bass Blogger is probably well below 50mA, as well. It's an analogue distortion - I wouldn't be surprised if it was below 30mA. The X2's figure sounds about right, though. The Carbon Copy clocks in below 30mA, as phatbass30 said. |

In fact, just about any standard 9V power supply with a daisy chain attachment will work just fine. It's just a question of which features you need and how picky your pedals are. Quote:

Thomas. | hey Mate!
I'm in aussie myself and I know what a pain it is to find this kind of stuff. Since all of your shizit is 9v i'd just recommend buying a high current 9v wallwart from jaycar. like this puppy
Now if you know anything about electronics, and are comfortable about building a noise filter, then get one of these http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp...v&form=KEYWORD
its 5A which is enough for like 20 or so pedals, so you'll have plenty of power to expand.
otherwise http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp...v&form=KEYWORD
this one is small, easy has a noise filter, and all you'll have to do is buy some connectors and solder them on.
If you have any troubles with shipping and stuff, i'm more than happy to buy the parts for you and you can wire me the money and i'll build you a custom power supply, for free (-p/h and parts of course :P)
-cheers
alex

Something to keep in mind. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
