Powering Pedals (9v & Power Supply)

Sign in to disble this ad
A couple of quick questions for you pedal gurus:

1) Is there any harm in powering a pedal from a power supply while the battery (9V) is still in the pedal?

2) If you do use a power supply for a pedal that has a battery in it, are you using/depleting the battery?

Generally speaking the answer is 'no' to both, because the AC adapter jack has a switch in it that literally connects or disconnects one of the leads to the battery when you un/plug the power supply plug. But I suppose there may be exceptions.

Great, that's the answer I was hoping for! I have a couple of pedals that I power through a DC Block at home, but use batteries with when they go out. Up to now, I've been taking the batteries out, but it starts becoming a bit of a pain in the butt!
