Pre-amp/DI pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
Tried and really dig the Radial Bassbone.
Also played thru the EBS Micro-Bass II and it's also nice.
Never like the SansAmp one too much. But never really tried it at any length. Would also love to try the new Aguilar pre/DI pedal.

So, who else makes a pre/DI pedal and your thoughts/opinions of them???

Prefer to stay "smaller" so things like a Line 6 pedal size (Pod thingy) don't qualify. I have a Roland V-Bass already. Even NOT using the V-Bass pick-up and plugged in "normal", it does sound stinkin' great. But it's kinda big.

I'm about to buy a box and stuff my Demeter BPEQ, Compulator and a DI all in one and call it a day!!! LOL!!!

Thus far, I'd say the ToneBone is leading what I have tried.

I'm not a fan of the Tech21 sound either (although, I haven't spent as much time with the VT di)...

I've been using a DHA DI-EQ for over a year now & am still very happy with it! It's a little 'home-made' looking (which is either cool or not, depending on your outlook) but has proven to be entirely roadworthy.

Here's my old review with more pics, in-depth details and soundclips (I even a/b it against a $600 Aguilar tube DI):

I have a Sadowsky bass so the Sadowsky pre/DI seems a little redundant and the same....

WTDI???

Looks kinda cool.
Gonne have to check that out.

I wanna say that a buddy of mine had one. Can't remember if it was DHA or not.
He loved it what ever it was.
He's the bass player in the Americian Secrets, the band that won the FreeCreditReport.com contest.
I know he's using a REDDI for DI stuff though....

Heck, I used to drag around a tube di as well. They just don't fit in carry-on baggage as easily!

This DHA DI-EQ was modified with an independent volume control for the xlr out. I think Dave made this a standard feature now. They have to be custom ordered from DHA UK, but are still very inexpensive. As you can tell from the clips, it doesn't sound inexpensive. It's an amazing value at around $100!

Yes, the balanced Di (XLR) out now has a level control as standard.

Don't forget the MXR M-80. It's a fantastic little box, and it only costs about $80 used. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Ya know, wasn't impressed with the VT.
Not my vibe really.

The Deluxe isn't that big for me really. I should give the PBDDI a shot.
Again, the BDDI didn't knock me out either.

I was an Eden endorser a few years back.
No issues with their sound.

I'll put my flame suit on for this, but the Hartke VXL is actually pretty nice for this function. 9V or Phantom power so no wall wart.

Seymour Duncan also has the Paranormal.

I'm looking forward to trying the WTDI. Compression, EQ and DI all in one.

I like Hartke stuff.
Thought they stopped making that pedal?

They might have stopped making it. I saw one on display the other day at Sam Ash.

I used one at a large outdoor festival direct to PA and thru the side fills. It sounded fantastic.

Aguilar used to make a DB-900 tube direct box. Bulky, Pricey, but ohh the tone is great.
Doesnt solve your pedal problem. How a small pre-amp with a countyman DI. great box with a jensen transformer
