I suppose it depends a lot on your own situation......but that was really why I cranked up this discussion....to see what other people have experienced while using a BDDI type pedal as a DI and NOT a stompbox.
I personally think our soundguy does a great job......but tends to mix/eq a little light on bass (both guitar and kick).....as others have said the same to me. I also don't like what he does with a "flat" signal when I send it to him (heard recordings and stood out there and listened to it). It's NOTHING close to what I feel it tonally should be given the sound I'm trying to place into the material we do (a more modern driven bass tone....it always comes out muddy to my ear). So I'm considering this as an option in my personal experience.
I also like the concept of having "my FOH tone" coming out of my pedalboard......and it doesn't make a difference what amp/cabs I bring.....or if they suddenly stop working....."the tone" and/or show will continue.
