Preamp Stompbox - Has This Been Done?

Has anyone ever put an active bass preamp into a stompbox enclosure?

My idea is to have a 3-band MM Stingray preamp in a pedal I could use with multiple passive basses.

It seems as though it would be as simple as hooking up the input wire to another jack instead of a pickup; and adding a bypass switch.

Am I missing something here, maybe some unforeseen issue? Is there a reason this isn't done more often?

There's a number of people over in the DIY 2-band thread that are doing it with home-made 2-band MM preamps. Sounds like a completely doable idea.

Ibanez had one of their instrument preamps in a pedal form, so I don't see why not.

Cool! Looks like I might have another project on my hands for after the semester ends!

It can be a very doable project, I have several once onboard preamps that have been installed in project boxes that I grab from time to time.
