Question this is probably a tough question but...

What effects does Cliff use in this intro? It sounds ****ing amazing, but having relatively no experience with effects for the bass i have no idea how that kind of sound is achieved...

sounds like a a lot of distortion and a whah whah pedal or auto whah to me. You can hear the variations in the tones from high to low. that's basically what an whah whah pedal does.

That's the unmistakable sound of the A/DA Flanger, a classic effect that Cliff Burton was well known for using.

As a proud owner of one of these I can assure you it most certainly not the Bass MuRF.

it's probably that vintage Valmoth,...or Helmuth (or what ever it's called) pedal all you old farts are always raving about.
