Last sunday I was on stage, and during the soundcheck something very weird and annoying happened. I play a fender precision with a korg pitchblack tuner, and a bass big muff pi. I use a karma power supply with a daisy chain from the tuner to the big muff. In rehearsal studio, in that very afternoon, nothing happened and everything worked fine. On stage, I tried to switch on the tuner and it did, the big muff didn't. Everything was properly connected: the jack from bass to tuner, the little jack between tuner and muff, the jack from muff directly to the subwoofer (the problem doesn't stem from that, cause I tried also at home with my amp, and the problem persisted).
Now: is it a problem of the daisy chain? I tried to play the bass only with the muff so that the latter was supplied directly by the power supply, and this time it worked. Also is a brand new pedal, I bought it new about 2 months ago... |

I don't know why tuners even have this option other than Boss does it. There is no reason for it.
Boss does it so you'll think you have to buy their daisy chain. |

could have been your patch cable connecting your tuner to your Muff.
Also, +1 to making sure the pedals work properly when powered seperately. |

The problem comes out when I power the tuner and the muff thanks to a daisy chain, which is weird cause till a couple of days ago worked nicely. As I've written up, I've bought another daisy chain and the problem persisted.
Maybe I should call the store and appeal to the warranty, what say you? |

Sounds like the daisy chain cable is broken.

Have you tried a daisy chain like this? It will allow you to power both of the pedals without running through another pedal. They are MUCH more convenient IMO than trying to run your pedals power through a pedal.
If the tuner is new and you can verify that it outputs no power, then you should probably take it back, or at the least verify that another pedal doesn't behave the same way.
Either way, I'd get the daisy chain linked to above and then you won't have as much to troubleshoot when something doesn't work. |

Makes sense, though it's weird cause since I got it and until the problem came out, it always worked fine...
This is the daisy chain I've got (on the left)... is it different from the one you linked? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
