This might seem like kind of a weird thing to be asking about, but I just want to know what's wrong. I've got 2 9V adapters(one 1-Spot and 1 Danelectro DA-1). From everything I've read, the 1-spot is completely compatible for replacing the DA-1. With the 1-spot, I got a 7 plug daisy chain, and the DA-1 came with a 5 plug daisy chain. The 1-spot is supposed to be able to power up to 20 pedals with daisy chains. Here's where it gets strange:
1-spot--->7 plug chain--->5 plug chain = 7 plug chain works, 5 plug chain doesn't
1-Spot--->5 plug chain--->7 plug chain = 5 plug chain works, 7 plug chain doesn't
As if this needed to be more complicated, when I hook both chains up to the DA-1, one configuration powers 11 pedals fine, the other way only powers the first daisy chain(I can't remember off hand which way is which).
Anyone have a clue why this would be happening? I'm not particularly worried about it, since it's really simple for me to just use both adapters, but has been kind of confusing me. |

But, as I said in the OP, I'm not too worried about it since I've got 2 adapters, it just really confuses me as to how it will work one way but not the other 14 or so ways I could hook them both up. |

Maybe you can narrow it down to a certain offending pedal, or perhaps post a list of your pedals so that some effect gurus more knowledgeable than myself could have a look? |

Still though, on the chain that doesn't work, unplug power from each pedal one at a time, test, re-plug, go to the next.
It sounds like one of your pedals is shorting the chain, for whatever reason. |

The only logical explanation is that the connection between the two chains is dodge.

It sounds like one of your pedals is shorting the chain, for whatever reason. | All of the dano pedals are neg ground. I tried exactly what you suggested when I first tried to hook them all up on the one spot. At the time, I had the 7 chain hooked up to: Tuner, Compressor, EQ, Flanger, Octave, & Phaser, in that order. The last plug on it plugged into the 5 chain, which went to: FAB echo, FAB chorus, Daddy-O, Fab Tone, Wasabi Distortion in that order. I started disconnecting them at the Phaser(I had just bought it used), and moved down from there. After I got to the end, I switched the 5 chain and the 7 chain, but kept the pedals hooked up in the same order they had been in. When the 5 chain worked, but the 7 chain didn't, I switched out the 1-spot for the dano adapter just to see if it was a problem with the 1-spot itself. That's when I figured out that only one way worked for all of them to be powered from the dano adapter, but just to be on the safe side, I generally keep each adapter only powering 1 chain now. |

Once I figured it out, it took about 30 seconds to fix. |

I'm probably going to be building a small board soon though(only 6 or 8 pedals), so I was most likely going to buy another one anyway. Now that I've budgeted myself $100 every month to either spend on gear or save towards something big, I'll be getting a lot of stuff soon.
