You haven't had a pedalboard proper until you have done something like this!

had it turned backwards. so i was plugging into the output and sending the input on. as the first pedal in my signal chain. i am SMART. | |

I've been meaning for ages to buy a cable tester. Nothing worse than pulling your hair out over finding a bung cable. Though its another one of those things you have no fun spending money on... when it could be going towards strings or pedalz.

| | | I love this thread. So many pedal boards for my visual feast everyday. Here is mine. I use a nano when I'm out for jams and at home I'll use my PT2 sized GORM pedalboard.
OC 2 - loop - delay
Loop 1: metal zone for high eq dist - BBM on dry mode - VT Bass to smooth the blend up.
Loop 2: ODB3 to drive - Proco RAT
Saving up to get a prunes and custard in place of my odb and a line 6 M5 to replace the delay.
My RAT comes with a nice story. Bought is for around $40, when I got it, it didn't work with batteries so I asked for a refund but was ignored by the seller. So I opened it up, wanting to fix the pedal. And guess what I saw, LM308N chip, 1988 production. Happy!! Took some tissue and wipe the leads to the batteries and now it works like a charm. )

Add a story of my own from last week. Refinished a pedal enclosure with some fresh paint, soldered it back up and reassembled it. Plugged it into my setup to test it and got no sound. Panicked thinking I screwed something up. Went back to my workbench, fired the soldering iron back up. Then went back to fetch the pedal from my rig and noticed my bass wasn't even plugged in. Problem solved. Pedal worked. User error.
anyways, here's my board. no changes in two months. repost.

The EHX Stereo Electric Mistress and Marshall RG-1 were interesting experiences (the Marhall in particular retains low-end really well), but in the end, the Phase 90 made me wanna explore more the analog world and that's where I'm heading.
Looking to trade up the Bassballs for a GR2 (or an MXR BEF as an alternative) and maybe add a 2nd BSW (I use that thing for 5 different functions). The Boss LMB-3 made a come-back from the trading block and works well with my new Jazz bass , for whatever reason. The board is powered by a DC Brick and the chorus being 18v, I can add at least another 9v and 18v pedal. I should be set for awhile after that.

My brainfart moment. I drunkenly put my LYT32 into it's case without unplugging the expression pedal from the Bass MuRF,...which is a straight jack and sticks out beyond the edge of the pedalboard. The plug pulled out so I thought it was fine,...but when I got to a show I saw that I snapped the lug off the jack.
It still works by all accounts,...
I totally accept responsibility for the mistake,...and I understand the need for MOOG to mass produce these pedals,...but you'd think at the price they are charging,...MOOG would be avoiding board mounted jacks. It could have been worse IE I could have broken the circuit board.
I'm hoping I can repair it but I'm a little wary of de-soldering SMT components. |

Not quite the same brain-fart as y'all, but it reminds me of sending my Polish Love back to Bogdan in Poland when it stopped doing what it was supposed to do; among other bits of info I gave him was both a description and a pic of the pedal's position in my chain at the time (dead center). His diagnosis was that (apparently ignoring the pic) I must have had it plugged in backwards, since it worked just fine for him, and sent it back with big stickers on it that said IN and OUT. Weirdo thing was that it arrived back here and indeed worked just like it was supposed to.

Sheesh! Plugging things in backward, running drills in reverse, etc. What's the matter with you people? Leave my screwin'-it-up vibe alone. Here's my personal "favourite"...
I'll go for several gigs without doing it, so I'll forget about it and that's when Murphy smacks me up the side of the noggin'. My preamp has two channels, I only use A. "Hmm everything's plugged in but no sound ... Panic Time!
AYaaaa!! Channel B again!
