Someday I'll drop the sweet cash on some lavas... | The Lavas are ok. They sound amazing, very clear. But troubleshooting them is a constant annoyance. You have to make sure the cable you just made actually works, and this could take several assembly attempts. Once they work, they keep working though, and rarely come loose save if the pedals they're plugged into get moved around a lot, and even then, they really don't come loose enough to mess with the signal.
If I could find a diy soldered cable kit with plugs as small as the Lava Mini's I'd seriously consider em, but I haven't, so...

They were always causing problems or they would stop working or something. I think that was because, at the time, my pedals moved around a lot, on and off the board. Because of George L's design, it caused more stress on the cable and caused shorts; with the ground connection being supplied by the outside of the wire.
I bet now that my board doesn't change nearly as much and the pedals don't move around that Lava's might be better for me... |
