Question about the MXR M80 pedal

Hi.

The noob here, again.

I am interested in getting an MXR M80, which is a distortion DI and pre-amp pedal.

I know, probably a dumb question but because this pedal also acts as a pre-amp, will it cause issues if it is used with an amplifier connected with a bass head? Is that too much power? Will something blow up? LOL I'm just checking before I potentially buy it.

I use a basic amplifier but I jam weekly at a friends house and I dont bring my amp. He has a bigger better one connected with a bass head. So I'm asking the question, as far as using the MXR M80 with his bigger set-up.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Nope, it'll be fine. It's a pre-amp, not a power amp, so it won't drive your speakers in the same way.

Funny, I'm gonna try this myself, plugging it into the FX return/preamp of a venue's existing amp head at a gig in April.

If the input impedance of the power amp in matches the output impedance of the MXR (600ohms) and input sensitivity of the former is no higher than 1 vlt/0dB, you should be fine.
