One is a modded Digitech Bad Monkey the other is a Way Huge Green Rhino. I use the Bad Monkey for a subtle overdrive, it rarely gets turned off unless I'm playing a country song where I want alot of clean head room. I use the Green Rhino on alot in the chorus and during guitar solos to dirty up my sound and give me a more full bass sound.
I would say that Bad Monkey was the best $30 investment I have ever made. I swapped out a couple of caps, which took all of 10 minutes. Its been so long ago, I don't remember which caps I swapped out with what. I got the information on the internet, it was called the badder monkey mod. Its now my favorite pedal.

Sounds great on bass and tracks really well. Pog 2 is a cheaper option but not even close to the coolness and options of the hog.
I have built a bunch of clones and kits too, a cheaper option if you like getting you're hands dirty (or slightly burned....) Some of the favorites include woolly mammoth(gated and meaty fuzz), torn's peaker(crusty and intense fuzz), and devi ever dark boost. I built a feedback looper yesterday out of cannibalized parts. Not really an answer to your question but I feel like pedals are more satisfying when you wired them yourself. I've also had a green Russian big muff in my effects chain since '96. Wouldn't leave the house without it. Happy hunting.
Also, don't judge us pedal board slobs. Pedals may get used to cover up ****** playing but some of us use them appropriately. Nothing wrong with a full palate of colors. |

I'm sure an elvelope follower would have spiced things up... plus over here in the early 90's us Bass players were nuts about effects... pedals boards, you name it ! I used to go and see a band that was two bass players and a drummer, and they were all about the effects
edit: I even made a 12AX7 tube distortion box, as I started playing grunge in 92'... trying to find it as we speak.. it was really fuzzy

They really work well together (wish I had thought to do that years ago...) and I'm sure anything coming before it will probably bennefit from a little or lot compression... can't wait to check out these effect you guys have mentioned... thanks again ! |

| | | | SansAmp Tech 21 Bass Driver - or some other unit that also has a DI. So very useful I sometimes don't even take a rig to a show that has a decent PA. Plug and play baby!
Plus it makes any effects placed before it sound just a bit meaner. At least the way I've got mine set up.
MXR M80 is really nice, kinda like the sans, but with a built in dirt channel. There's a bunch of DI pedals I'd start with. |

| | | | Try out some envelope filters other than the BassBalls. The Q-Tron plus does some cool stuff. EH Bass Micro-Synth might be a good additions to your rig, but it is pricey! |

The one pedal that is always on though is the BBE Sonic Stomp pedal, it doesn't change the sound so much as it takes the wet blanket off of it. |
