Recording bass with BOSS ME-25

Well I'm thinking of buying the BOSS ME-25 multi-effect pedal, and one of it's features is that it can be hooked to a PC through an USB port and it comes with recording software (Cakewalk SONAR 8.5 LE).

I wonder if anyone tried it already, and how good the sound quality would be, for bass solo arrangements and compositions

I did. Didn't work too well with my laptop. Lotsa lags and other issues. I needed to use an outboard interface into the laptop. The USB things on the me25 or my little fender practice amp didn't cut it

Damn, that's too bad, thanks for the info anyway!

Anyone else tried it with better luck?

Garage Band is free, and all you'd need is an interface to connect with. Then, use any outboard or virtual processing you wish to.

It's cute that BOSS/Roland provide that feature for you, but it will never touch a dedicated audio interface that can support real recording situations. I have helped a few people get set up with interfaces like that, and besides the poor audio quality, you can't ever get your latency low enough to play in real time through your computer.

I have used my ultralite and mainstage on my macbook for many a hit and run session before i got my 5lb BX500 head. I could run reliably at 32ms or less (if I ran through the laptop or not), look into the introductory MOTU offerings like the Audio Express. The Cue Mix FX software is actually just an easier way of accessing the internal compressors, EQ's and bus mixers, I encourage you to check them out.

I cannot remark on the virtues of the ME-25 as an effects pedal, but if it is anything like it's big brother, then it would serve well for live situations. I have the last model BOSS GT-8 for guitar, and I will tell you that the effects do not translate well for a bass (excellent on guitar though).

It's only on Mac tho...

and thanks for all that info NoiseTracker, I will keep it in mind, but I've seen some videos were it looks like it worked pretty well with a bass (like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1Z-V2xey-Q , he is not using it to record, but the effecets seem to work pretty well )
