Roland VB-99: How to play MIDI sounds???

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I got my VB-99 a week ago and I've been messing with it and trying to make it work like I want to. The only thing I can't yet figure out is how to make my bass play sounds from a MIDI device... I've been trying to do it from Logic or Reason... Unsuccessful still....

So, can anyone point me in the right direction on how to do this? I mainly want to play sounds from Logic and Reason in real time with my bass.

Is this even possible?

Again, hopefully someone can just guide me... lol. It will sound stupid, but I get really confused with the Manual... I am not used to all the terms... And also, it's my first pedal ever...

Thanks to everyone who is willing to help.

Well for a first pedal ever , you went for the Grand slam !

First if you did a little research on TB on the pitch to MIDI subject , you would have learned that it's REALLY and I mean REALLY ****** , it simply isn't working for bass.
The VB99 main attribute is COSM technology wich are emulations of basses , amps and FX.

The VB99 is also capable of pitch to MIDI. Again , it is very bad. You don't buy a VB99 for that purpose. It's main force is the COSM.

That being said ,I can give you clues if you want to try it out.
(and you WILL agree with me)

-On the VB there is a "bass to MIDI" knob , prss it
-put the bass to midi on

That's it

Now for the CPU part , do you have any experience with mIDI whatsoever ?
First install the VB drivers.
If you are on PC , I can't help but if you are on mac , go to your Utilities folder and start the Audio/MIDI configuration application
You'll see The VB99 driver , just crate a new one and link them where you want.

Then on your application , choose the VB99 as the source of the soft synths
