In short, if you play through a tube amp then you need to give this a try. You may never need a mild-mid OD ever again.

Two controls volume boost and treble boost, the pedal itself stays clean. Here is what I love about this pedal, the treble boost is actually a passive bass and mid cut. I know most of you will cringe at the sound of that but trust me it is a very mild and musical cut and the low end loss is hardly noticeable.

Why is this good? For me I love to be able to get some natural amp distortion but with most boost pedals I find the low end becomes over powering, everything gets muddy, speakers start distorting and it always sounds like it's too over the top. With the Atomic Boost as you increase the volume you can start rolling off the lows everything stays nice and controlled resulting in some great sounding OD from your tubes. It is Also great for adding that extra kick to your fuzz pedal and it can add some nice top end to the overall sound. With the treble boost all the way off you can get a clean boost with no impact to the tone. Again the low end cut is hardly noticeable especially when you are compensating with some extra volume. No noise issues and excellent build quality.

Tried the PPB, it was too farty for me. Low end got very loose. I got the Atomic from g-spot music, $140 I think.

Ok. I see. Yeah, I thought the sounds on the site got very pushy in the lows, but the top end character I found somewhat pleasing.

If you get to some clips I would love to hear it with your ric and maybe the oxfuzz

I've not used the Atomic Boost, but I have a Love Squeeze on my board, and find Rothwell's build quality to be outstanding. It's the only always-on pedal on my board, and it absolutely rocks. If the Atomic Boost is of the same quality, which I assume it is, it will be fantastic.

Here is sample clip I recorded, excuse the tape hiss.

Signal path was:
4001 Ric (flats) > Atomic Booster > Dark Driving > GT200 > Ampeg 810 > SM57 > Tascam 4 Track Tape Recorder

First is clean then it is just the Atomic Booster, then just the DD (set to very mild) and then the Atomic driving the DD

Atomic and DD by the_brow on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

no processing or compression. Did not have the Oxfuzz with me but the Atomic and it do go well together as well.

Volume was at 2 o'clock and treble boost at noon on the AB.

Man, that's great. Thank you Sam.

Your right. In that clip you can hardly tell there's any cut in the lows and mids with the volume boost. It is more like the upper register just gets more pronounced.

How much more apparent would you say the cut is with full treble boost?

Not much but here is the thing, as you turn up the treble (cut bass) you start to lose volume and you need to boost the volume on the pedal. At full treble there is too much bass cut to compensate for with the volume and it is no longer a booster. Both controls on full gets you about unity gain. So it is not very useful at that point. Treble at 3 is probably the max usable for bass. Makes sense?

Thanks for the clip! I preferred the sound with just the booster.

Me too, just so natural. Just wanted to demonstrate it's ability to drive another pedal.

Yes, very much so. Thank you!
