I happened to buy this a few weeks ago now, and I 'LOVE' it

. It's not the cheapest out there, especially I imagine in the USA, but like any really great pedal you will completely forget monetary value when you are in the hands of such a quality pedal as this one (talking both in build quality and sound).
One tip - this pedal can apparently run anywhere between 9-18V Boss style power supply, and I seem to be having a slight headroom issue with this at 9V, so my advice would be to run this higher than 9V to give it enough headroom on bass (I'm thinking that I may give 18V a shot soon).
For what I use it for, which is for subtle string balancing/occasional 'problem fixer', I am still really glad I bought it and as Ovnilabs says, it is
extraordinary flat in frequency response. I'm not sure how this would compare with some of the compressors you've been looking at, but to try and help anyway - the Rothwell's trademark features are its insane frequency response and lovely subtle action.
