Just make sure you look for yellow-purple-black-gold, on the light tan resistors. Don't worry about the others unless you can't find the tan one.

If your pedal has the BLUE switch, which a 2007 almost certainly does, than go by that pic on his page.

I've done it once, very ez, but I know how daunting it can look if you've never done electronics before!

best,

matt

Its an interesting sound, less gain and more muddy than the standard Rat sound, but you can roll back the filter and get a weird fuzzy sound.

I put a switch on my Rat so I can go between the modded and standard sounds, but I never use it modded.

You can re-solder it to fix it, you know... you're not doomed yet.

Heck, you could even replace the broken resistor for hardly anything.

A resistor? They're pennies a piece!

The problem is, you'll probably have to buy a small bag of them, since they're rarely sold individually (it's just not practical). It's only a few bucks - you just need to find a match and de-solder the one that's in there to replace it.

Care to show us a photo of the board where you made the cut?

wait, if you broke the resistor you were trying to clip, (the 47 ohm) then it doesn't matter. You just did the mod...

Is that what you mean?

no, i just plugged it in and couldn't get a decent sound. all i was getting is feedback, not the screeching loud feedback, but the kind of deep type of feedback

I am trying to do this mod, but also on the 560 ohm resistor, and I was wondering which resistor that is. On the DIY guitar amp site, it shows the gut shot of an actual rat, but only shows the 47ohm resistor, not the 560 one.

Thanks for the help TB!

Forgot to add, that on the diyguitaramp.com site, my rat's board looks like the very first photo, with the red arrow pointing to the clipped resistor. Is the 560 ohm resistor right next to it?

I am hoping it does, all the 1k pots I find seem to have three prongs, but there are only two holes in the circuit board. The mightier mouse directions have a red line connecting the first and second prongs, does that mean I solder them together? Sorry for all the questions, I just don't wanna mess up my pedal.
