RUFO-rack or Pedaltrain 2?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got my paycheck and I'm already on the prowl!

I'm considering a 2U Americarack Rufo-case for my Ampeg SVT-3 PRO or a Pedaltrain 2 for my effects. Right now the amp is mounted in a 4U SKB-case, not the most solid case I've seen, while my pedals are mounted on an original Pedaltrain which is transported in a cheap plastic molded case. With the new Pedaltrain 2 I can have my Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2+ mounted underneath, giving me space for my Dunlop 105Q Wah and I would also have the ATA-approved hardcase.

What do you guys think? Safely transport my amp or my pedals? I always bring my pedals to a gig, while I sometimes leave my amp at home.

Do you tour?

If you're ever going on tour, I'd very much recommend both! A proper flight case is essential for touring.

I've had a plastic rack for my amp and it is pretty much trash by now - it's barely staying together.
But I have proper ATA style flight cases for my pedalboard and my speakers, and these are very tough and road worthy. I should have had the same for my amp.

Yeah, I tour and I've always been worried if my gear survives the tour when everyone is stacking their **** on top of my amp and pedalcase. We recently flew and at that time I had a Pedaltrain Jr with an ATA-hardcase; I never felt safer! I have a Mesa Boogie Roadready cabinet and those are built inside a flightcase, so I'm covered there.
