Hello

I tried this recently with an apparently more transparent clear sound as a result

is this safe to do on 9 volt pedals?

Any advice welcome

it all depends on if the components can take it??? but you might end up burning some pedals...

In most cases, you'll fry your pedals. Most 9VDC pedals won't be able to handle 12VDC. They're not often built with components which are rated for significantly higher voltages.

There are some that will, however, especially in the realm of boutique effects where better components are used. Always check with the manufacturer to be safe. If it's a major brand like Boss or Ibanez or EHX, don't risk it - they most likely can't handle 12VDC.

Agree with everyone else, but as a general rule of thumb, don't do it. Only use manufactures specs.
