The boss pedal seems to work well for guitars, why wouldn't it do the same for bass(frequency differences may fcuk you over tho)

This was discussed in a recent thread and it basically went 50/50 on the issue, with the Boss AC-3 being mentionned as being adequate by some, crappy by others. A search will certainly provide more info, there's certainly more than one thread on this.

I have always wondered about the Acoustic Simulator. I like to think of it like the Dan Electro Sitar Swami: don't expect what the pedal says on how it will sound. Maybe it won't sound like an acoustic guitar, but it will still sound cool.

I think this is the best you can hope for. I doubt you'll fool any ears but the sound might be worth having on its own merits. Like how we've all got an OC-2 but most of us don't use it to add an octave to our regular bass sound, we just think it sounds ace on its own.
