Russian Big Muff no audio when bypassed?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Russian Big Muff that does not pass audio in bypass mode and is super quiet why the effect is engaged. Any help would be much appreciated.

First make sure you're plugging into the current input and output. The input and output are reversed on this pedal, with the input on the left and output on the right.
Nevermind, you said while bypassed. Sorry I'm not sure what's wrong there.

Open it up and inspect the wires. Make sure the metal of the wires are not touching one another anywhere inside the pedal.
Report back.

I'd first check for dying batteries or a bad switch. same happened to my bass big mff and was fixed by changing the switch.

True. 20 year old switches are begging to be put down

That sounds an awful lot to me like the input is grounding out.

I'm saying bad or stray wiring, or a worn out jack. That's what I'd be looking for, anyway. I wouldn't rule out a bad switch, though.

I know this is boneheaded... but I actually took mine in for service when I first got it...

Make sure that the 1/4" connector cables are mono (one black loop) not stereo (two black loops). The stereo ones WILL NOT WORK.

Well it seems to be the foot switch. Now I must fix it.

If you can't fix it. I recommend 'The EH Man' services. http://www.ronsound.com/
