Rusty Box D.I.

Sign in to disble this ad
I love the sound clips of the rusty box but want to know more about its D.I. like quality and if it has pre/post and a ground lift?

And can it power a power amp?

1 - go here, and look for the download link to the .pdf manual

2 - wait for behndy to find this thread...he uses his as a preamp for his gigging rig

3 - mine does not have either a pre/post or a ground lift switch that I'm aware of; the line-out is a 1/4 jack.

The main out is balanced and after the master volume.

The line out is unbalanced and before the master volume, the same as the line out on the TS50B.

No ground lift.

Does the rusty box has a D.I. out or just main/line outs?

lulz. you funny Mudd'er.

so, it KINDA has a DI out. the balanced out is the same as what you're going to get with a DI out, just a quarter inch input instead of an XLR. so with a simple 1/4 -> XLR adapter you have a DI.

the Rusty Box KILLS. i use mine with the main to my power amp into my Aggy rig, i've mic'd that and gone direct with the 1/4 -> XLR adapter. all work very well.

hope that helps.

I wasn't sure if that would work or not...I'll remember it.

So could something like this Buy Planet Waves XLR Female to 1/4" Female Adapter | Cable Adapters | Musician's Friend make the rusty box useable as a DI?

close. if you want an adapter you'd want like this....

Amazon.com: XLR Male To 1/4" Male Adapter: Electronics

or if you wanted a cable this....

Live Wire 1/4" Male to XLR Male Patch Cable and more Audio / RCA Cables at GuitarCenter.com.

but easiest way is a male to male. the 1/4 male would go into the balanced out and the 1/4 male would be there to plug into a DI snake or cable going to the board. i always have to look up and stare at the pics 'cause it SEEMS like it should be female on one end.

i prefer the 5 inch (or a little bigger) cable, it makes it harder to lose. i went through 3 of the adapters and just spaced them in the hecticness of load out. haven't lost any since i got the cable though.

hope that helps!
