Sadowsky Outboard + Markbass LMII

I'm playing a 2008 Am. St. Jazz V by the way...

Just curious if there are any Sadowsky Outboard + LMII users. I just received my Sad. preamp, and though I like it, I can't help but feel like it's a bit redundant. When the preamp is set flat, there is barely a difference, though noticeable, when the preamp is on and off (active vs. passive). Once I boost the lows and highs on the preamp, I like the tone I get, but 40hz is the same freq. as the "low" on the Markbass LMII. The Sadowsky has a 4k "high" frequency and the LMII has a 10k "high" so that's definitely a difference. If I'm not mistake, a boost around 4k probably gives me that Sadowsky growl/grind, while the 10k boost on the LMII gives it more of a glassy feel.

I'm going to wait til I get to play through my rig at louder volumes. Not sure if I'll be keeping this preamp, though I do like the mute function. It definitely adds noise with my OneSpot, though I hear getting the fishman AC adapter will solve noise issues.

So, any of you guys out there have both? Care to comment?

While I don't have both I can add a few things to this.

While both may have a 40Hz center for the lows, that doesn't mean they will do the same thing. One may have a larger frequency width that is affect, and they could also add their own spice to that range. I don't normally do much with the EQ nobs themselves on my Markbass, I've been able to do a lot with the VLE and VPF knobs in different combination. If I want a low boost, I will raise the the VPF and then dial out highs with VLE.

The Markbass EQ seems a bit better fit to cut out offending frequencies from situation to situation and room to room, but I do add a bit of mids with it.

Play around with them =) It's always a fun and interesting.

A LOT of us use the LMII with our Sadowsky's. I've used several other basses with my LMII, including an '08 American Standard Jazz V, but the Sadowsky has certainly sounded the best. In my case, the Sadowsky and Fender sounded quite a bit different. The Sadowsky preamp definitely sounds different than the LMII pre. I've found the perfect tone for me is leaving the LMII completely flat and just using slight boosts on the Sadowsky pre. I'm crazy about both the LMII and Sadowsky!

Many new Sadowsky preamp owners don't hear what the big deal is until they use the unit in a full band ensemble setting. After that, it's easy to figure out what it brings to the table.

+1...I ran one in front of my LMII with a passive DJ5 and it slammed. It just really tightens things up. I've even used it with active basses and it sounds great. Never had any noise issues with mine. Great box!

Very good point that I should have mentioned. That was my exact experience when I received my Sadowsky.

i had the same thought as you when i recently got mine.
when its flat there is no difference but i just give the treble and bass a slight boost.
with the sadowsky pedal, i dont even have to crank my amp as loud as i use to.
its a great pedal if u boost some of the EQ and try it with the band

oh and roger told me that most adaptors aren't very compatible with the pedal.
either use the regulated fishman pedal or use the battery.
i use the battery because i found that the adaptor i already had created a hum.
