Arrow Sadowsky outboard preamp + Fender 08 Jazz Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
hey guys!

i have a few questions about the sadowsky outboard pre-amp!

My main bass is a Fender American Standard Jazz Bass 08. I'm really happy with it, but i want a more modern sound, especially then it comes to slapping.

Will my fender jazz bass sound like a sadowksy bass with the outboard pre-amp or won't that work?
My goal is a Marcus Miller slap sound, would that work with the sadowsky pre-amp or is that not possible?

that's the sound i want!

best regards,
david

Hi, yes your Jazz will sound a lot like a Sadowsky if you run through the Sad pre. Really all a Sadowsky is is a very well-made Fenderish basic platform with the Sadowsky pre built in. As long as your starting bass is a well-made basic Fenderish platform, if you add the Sad pre then there you are.

Since MM's sound is scooped and bright, and since the Sad pre does scooped and bright quite well, then yes. Of course beyond having a Jazz with a scooped bright active sound, you have to also have MM's skills.

Dave, get the Sadowsky preamp immediately! I bought one, and now I have absolutely no need for a boutique Jazz. The preamp gives me the Sadowsky tone in spades, and I can go back to have a classic fender tone anytime I want it. If you like the '08 Fender, the Sadowsky outboard preamp really doubles your options.

It is like 90% of the way there. With an active bass you don't have a cable between the bass and preamp, so its just a little bit more "active" sounding ... more extended and polished.

But its close. The outboard sounds killer and has an A+ DI built in, with a muted tuner output. It is quite the little gig weapon. That, a tuner, and a maxon CP-9 Pro+ on a little pedalboard is instant pro tone to go, no matter what amp shows up on the backline.

would a sadowsky outboard pre work with a MM signature in bypass mode to get that sadowsky tone?
