Sadowsky pre repair?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have the older outboard preamp, basic V/T/B knobs, no DI. Anyone know how I might get it serviced/repaired/maintained?

I bought it used from a TBer and it worked OK for awhile. Lately, its' knobs are real scratchy where I can't even use it as its too noisy and the sound cuts out when I turn the knobs. So trying to see if its worth getting repaired by sending it to a person or business that might do this type service. I found a URL for www.pedaldoctor.com and I sent them an email. But I'm not sure they're still in business.

I suppose I should just go buy a can of DeOxit but sorta wanted to get it looked at overall. But noe, if anyone has had success by just using DeOxit (or other) on any effects pedals' knobs, with very good results, pls let me know. Though this could be more than just dirty pots. That's why I'd like to get it checked out.

Any individuals (TBers) here do this or can recommend someone in Houston TX area or whereever, I don't mind if I have to mail the pre to someone for repairs. Thanks for any suggestions.

I believe the preamp is simply the same one as the onboard stuck in a little case. So, you could sent to to Sadowsky, and maybe they could look at it?

That said, it sounds like the it is simply some scratchy pots. I'd try a little cleaner/lube before I sent it away.

If Caig's doesn't fix it, then I would send it to Sadowsky and no-one else.

Yep will do...

I sent a email to Sadowsky, roger@sadowsky and to pedaldoctor.com.

I recieved a very quick and kindly informative reply from pedaldr this morining, with est prices and other details. But I think I'll try the Deoxit first just to see what happens. Then I'll consider sending it out if I have to still.

BongoM, I think I found the pedaldr URL in a reply you made in a thread. You ever use them? Thanks for the replies guys.

I reviewed one of the pedals he makes, and it was good. I didn't buy it from him directly, and I never had him do any work for me, so I have no idea how he is with those aspects. But his own pedal was cleanly-made.

COOL...

so I have a can of Caigs DeOxit being shipped to me, gonna try that first. Heard back from Roger @ Sadowsky, pretty much said those pedals are discontinued and they don't offer repairs on it. Well I can understand its' not worth it expense and timewise to them.

Well if the spray doesn't get it, pedalDr stated, "yeah prolly can fix it for 20 bucks or so". And that "he cleans out and checks all soldered ends, etc before he sends pedals back to customers." Also added, "if its that quick of a fix they should get it back to me in a couple days." So I got that going for me.

They mighta just sprayed DeOxit on it as well. But I have a couple other amps/basses/effects that could use a touch of spray so def worth trying that out first. Thanks all.
