I tried one at Atomic Music a few months ago but I don't think it was working properly. I'll be on the lookout for another one though.

Actually we snagged #588, I picked it up from the classifieds on here and used it through 2 practices but found a different flavor of muff worked better for our sound. Then my guitarist showed up one day, after doing some research of his own, and wanted to try it out before I flipped it. As soon as he plugged in, turned up and played one of our songs, we all knew it was a keeper. Blew his other fuzzes out of the water, made his tone so much meaner and so much clearer for the rest of us to hear. Its his only distortion running into a clean tube amp, so its pure Les Paul + Bluebeard tone... and it slays!

However, the Bluebeard offers more gain and harmonic content in the midrange, and the TFR can't touch it there (too compressed). so the BB will be my go to fuzzstortion for everything save 'wall of fuzz' Black Sabbath style, that's still reserved for the TFR.
Sorry for the comparison, there really isn't a fair one here... But my Bluebeard story continues with me keeping the TFR and the Bluebeard. They don't work well together, but they do offer enough differences to warrent em both on my board... and I'm very conservative with regard to effects over lapping.
So, thanks to Sonny, my fuzz range is completely covered now!
Lowrange - Tall Font Russian (low and vroomy, the fuzz you feel in your... well, you feel it)
Midrange - Bluebeard (super highgain and angry; so very very angry)
Highrange - Unpleasant Surprise (gated and spazzy)
Covered!

Covered! | Glad I read this. It's exactly what I gathered from a few clips and videos. I just ordered a TFR but have the opportunity to pick up a Bluebeard locally. I'm considering the BB so I can have one for guitar and one for bass and seeing that other people are hearing the same differences I heard is making me feel more confer table justifying two pedal purchases within a few days of each other (I hardly buy pedals).
Might not be the right thread but I would love to ear anyone else compare the BB to a TFR. Even through a PM if this isn't the place for that. Thanks. |

At least for her/our overgained screaming guitar taste.
Both are great on bass, but if I had to choose one for guitar it'd be the Bluebeard, more gain! Gonna mess with it and her guitar this week.
Although I did get the Bluebeard for my bass board and I'm pretty sure it's staying there. I just got the lovely lady a Megalith Delta, with that and her Fullbore Metal she's good for her own screaming gain for a bit. heh, heh.
