Sans-amp VT pedal. ANYBODY?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was recommended one recently and was wondering if any of you have tried one or own one yet?

I do own a real Ampeg SVT, but I don't want to take it everywhere I play.
One- I don't want anything bad to happen to it (again) and,
Two- It's pretty heavy to be lugging around daily.

So it's gonna be my special occasion head. Recording, big shows, etc.

I also own a Gallien-Krueger 800RB (as of two days ago, booyah!) and I was hoping to keep my tone in the same ball-park when I use it instead of the SVT. I know it'll never sound exactly the same. I'd just like to get as close as possible.
I have the Sansamp bass driver already and I think it's a really fantastic pedal, but it's not exactly perfect at emulating the SVT tube tone. It's good, but since the VT was designed specifically for that purpose, I was wondering if it lives up?

Let me know your opinions and experiences. Thanks!

Is this some secret talkbass lingo I'm unfamiliar with?
If you're suggesting I 'search' for one, well, I have. I've only seen them online and have yet to hear one in person.

I'M INTERESTED IN YOUR OPINIONS PLEASE.

OK I get it now. Just missed the other thread is all. I'd still like to keep this running if possible though.

There is also a pretty good review on www.bassplayer.tv under the basses and gear section.

I honestly don't trust mp3 demo's very much. If everyone on here said it was great, that'd be more impetus for ME to buy one than if a random clip makes it seem decent.
Don't worry though. I'd still test before buying.

I checked those clips out a minute ago actually though, And it does sound pretty good from what I can tell. BUT ... is there anyone out there who owns an SVT and has played with one of these that can speak definitively on the subject?
Just curious is all.
