Question Sansamp Bass Di w/ Ampeg SVT?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I really love the overdrive of the Sansamp Bass Driver DI and I know that a large part of its design is to emulate an Ampeg SVT. I own an Ampeg SVT-VR so it seems kind of redundant to get a pedal that emulates something that you already have... you guys get what I'm saying? I live in the Seattle area, and there's a pretty well known boutique bass store called Bass Northwest. The owner was helping me out with overdrive pedals and he recommended this pedal more than any overdrive pedal even though he knew that I already owned an SVT. Any suggestions or help on this?

Save your money. Use it to buy a fuzz. I'm not biased against SansAmp in this case, although it is true that I do not particularly care for them. I'm simply helping you along with one of the very few indisputable truths that I have stumbled upon when it comes to dirtying up your signal:

fuzz + tube head = awesome

Im planning on getting an Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi for that super-overdriven, fuzz sound. I wanted to use the Sansamp for a mild to moderate overdrive.

i use a sansamp vt with my vintage svt and b-15 all the time. it would only be overkill if you set it to the same tone you get with your vr. but for an overdrive, it's fantastic because you get the same sound as cranking your vr into the red, but at a volume that won't get you fired. i would go vt over bddi because tonally it's more versatile, but no, i see no problem with using both.
