Sansamp BDDI in Europe?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, I need a quick answer to these questions, and i couldn't find one from google or from a quick TB search.

1) Do the pins in European XLR devices have different functions than devices in the USA? (i.e. are some of the pins switched?)

2) Assuming the pins are switched, will I encounter problems if i run my Sansamp BDDI xlr out into a European mixer?

I've heard that two of the xlr pins are switched in Europe, but I'm not sure how this would affect a DI from the USA. Thanks in advance for your input.

I don't think they're switched. I'm not in Europe, but I am in New Zealand, and we use 240V and therefore I think get the European version of most products shipped here. I have just bought a BDDI from a US TB'er, and it works perfectly using the XLR out. It was powered using phantom power too when I played out with it...

So while I can't be definitive, I think you're unlikely to have problems.

The pins on XLR are an International standard.

yup, your BDDI will work perfectly. I bought one from the USA and encountered zero problems, speaking from experience. I suppose the only conceivable time you'd get any problems is if something were designed with a 60hz cancelling circuit, because of our 50hz power supply.

but that would be isolated from the power supply anyway. but it doesn't matter because the sansamp isn't like that... it's 100% functional in the UK
