Sansamp BDDI - loss of definition?

Sign in to disble this ad
After running this pedal in my signal chain for over a year, I noticed that I was losing a lot of clarity and getting some woolly, boomy sounds. It was also really interfering with my effects - I tried running the Sansamp before and after my effects, no difference.

I took the pedal out of the signal chain and it solved the problem. Every note I played was more pronounced, much clearer. Effects came through clear as a bell too...

I still think this is a great pedal. Its awesome for recording and it has some really good overdrive. I guess I just got to the point where my tastes have changed. I still plan on keeping it around.

Anybody else share the same experience?

Did you try tweeking the pedal? (You probably did - but you say in your post)

I find mine provides a great range of tone.....

i've noticed that the eq on the bddi is extremely touchy. i've plugged in and sounded horrible. after dialing in the eq (with consideration of my pedals tone/eq), i get a really nice tone. compliments all around.

i'm not saying you arn't dialing the eq right. like you said, maybe your taste has changed, or your ears have gotten better

By "taking the pedal out of your signal chain" do you mean you just switched it off? Or is this a bypass problem?

I personally was not a fan of how other effects sounded through the Sansamp. Especially overdrive/distortion/fuzz effects. I cringe when I see people running those through a sansamp because to me they sound much better without the coloration the Sansamp provides at any setting, even the XXL Bass Edition.

No I mean I physically removed it

And yes I have tried a lot of different setting with the EQ.
I guess I just had a change in taste.
Like I said, I think its still a great pedal. I will use it for recording in the future.
