Many people find it can be difficult to get satisfying mids from the BDDI; consider their Paradriver instead.

That depends on what type of sound you're looking for. if you wanted a tube sound, the sansamp bass driver can give you that sound. if you wanted a grinding distortion, the mxr m80 can do that. I also would recommend either a digitech bass driver or a tech 21 xxl if you desire a more heavier distortion.

i see more people happy with the mxr as long as you can go with something a little different. distortion a big plus too.

If you can, try them both out side by side. I was asking myself a similar question a few years ago.

When I was looking to buy a DI, Sam Ash had the MXR in stock and ordered a BDDI to let me play through both of them in the store. There was a big difference in tone and the quality of the distortion. IMHO the MXR lends itself more to a thrash type sound. It naturally sounds a bit more midrangy than the BDDI before any eq. It had more bite to the distortion. Ultimately, I chose the Sans Amp because it just sounded better for the tone I was going for.

Try 'em out!

Bongo made a good suggestion too of checking out the Sans Amp Para Driver. The BDDI has no separate mid control.

thank you guys all for replying. i was leaning towards the MXR cause its cheaper but then again i dont really want to settle for something that wont really give me what i want. i kind of want the bass tone that you can hear in Death's The Sound Of Perseverance. yeah i guess i have to go to Guitar Center and try both out and see what suits me the best. thanks for everyone's input about the two pedals!

the bassist for municipal waste uses a BDDI live... I'm guessing by the tone of the album he records with it also
