Question Sansamp BDDI vs Sansamp VT

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm really interested in both of these pedals, because I'd like to upgrade my sound without spending a lot money. I've heard both sound great, and I was just wondering if there is a huge difference between the two...Thanks.

Last I checked I SWORE Talkbass had an excellent search function where you could find amazing comments in past threads that deal with questions like what you're asking.

Search Nazi's are present in all online forums these days. Just ignore them.

Thumbs down

Maybe it's the fact that there are several MASSIVE threads on both pedals, and that by searching for, finding, and posting in said well established zones, it's like going to a party where everybody welcomes you instead of staying at home alone waiting for the phone to ring.

Sorry, but this did deserve the "search" reply. It has been done to death.

I've searched the same thing over and over asking the same question, and it just results in a "DO A SEARCH" circuit. All I've managed to gather was "the VT Bass is a stomp-box/amp emulator, the BDDI is a DI, they're not comparable at all". It may be true, but both can be used as overdrive boxes and offer different tones. It's a matter of personal preference as they both do their job.

I don't understand the bolded part at all. They are BOTH stomp-box/amp emulators and they are VERY comparable. Yes, the BDDI has a DI but both do an excellent job of aping an SVT. The difference (IMO) is that the EQ on the BDDI is more extreme and "coloring" so you can get much "bassier" lows and "icepick" like highs, though most don't use that extreme of an EQ. They both cover some of the territory of the other. But the BDDI can't do the fliptop or higher gain sounds of the VT and doesn't have the level of control of the EQ because it doesn't have a mid control. But it does have a blend knob that the VT doesn't have.

I think both deserve the acclaim they get. If you want a wide range of Ampeg tones from fat tube to modern distortion, the VT Bass is the pedal. If you want more obvious coloring and/or the blend control and DI function then the BDDI is the choice.

And I know this information is available via search because I've posted nearly these same comments at least twice before. I don't think most people enjoy being caustic about doing searches, but a lot of these things get discussed over and over which has the added effect of cluttering up the forum and making it harder for people that actually do perform a search.

To simplify things...if you want a DI with overdrive, get a BDDI. If you want the pedal of the future, get a VT.
