Sansamp California on Bass, Soundclips

Inspired by this thread: Tech 21 Blonde Pedal: Clips

I decided to try out my California on bass, as I had previously only used it for guitar sounds.

I played a Cort Artisan B4 with an ACG Filterbased onboard preamp into the California, into a PreSonus FireStudio, using Garageband with no effects.

During the first several repetitions I played with different clean sounds using low gain settings and moving the character knob around, so the differences at first are subtle. EQ was left mostly flat. One of them is way louder than the others, I left this in to show what a huge range of volume it has and how that needs to be watched for.

PS- the first repetition I played was the bypass signal.

Ok so tried it for the first time in a band setting today. Guitarist plays a 100watt Mesa through a 4x12, acoustic drummer hits hard. Was really impressed. Cuts through without getting harsh, tonnes of warmth and punch. Better for driving my digital power amp than the Sansamp ParaDriver I had been using, better by far. Was not expecting this.

Wow, we've been waiting for someone to produce clips of the other character pedals for ages and then we get the Blonde, British and California all in the week before Christmas!

I like, I like a lot!

I'm also hoping that since the Cali can do clean well, the British Sansamp will be able to as well. At this rate, I think I'll end up with all of them by the time next year's through

Damn you, Tech21, damn you and your gas-inducing ways.

To everyone who's thinking of buying more CS pedals:

You might want to wait until after the next NAMM...

Thanks for posting these samples.

The California sounds quite similar to, but a tad less chocolaty than the VT Bass. 'Interesting...
