I use the programmable BDDI, through my VR. Actually, channel 1 is coming in from my wireless, out of the ch 1 high and into my Dist (Ashdown JLo hyperdrive), Sansamp, then back into channel 2 normal.
A little bit of both, but i use the DI on the sansamp.

If you`re playing at relatively low volume the Sansamp could definitely help get you some of the overdrive you might be missing.

Probably not necessary. However, the DI function works really well, have you tried it out ?
