Sansamp GT2 or Sansamp Bass Driver

I'm on a search for the "perfect" bass distortion / overdrive, subtle but still brutal. I like that the Bass Driver has a blend knob so I'm leaning towards this, but I cannot seem to find any audio clips for comparison. I saw a video on the tube of someone playing bass through the gt2, sounded ok but still not what Im looking for, a little too much high end. I have a ODB-3 that I have been using but I cant seem to dial in the sound I want. The ODB-3 is too "tinny" for my taste. any suggestions?

P.S im tired

I don;t suggestion the bass drive for a distortion. I've heard the MXR M-80 is a better distortion if you want a DI with distortion. I personally am going to try the Z.Vex Box of Rock for a distortion.

Have you considered Tech 21 XXL Bass Edition? I don't know if it's what you're looking for but that pedal is pretty much about all out distortion and there is more than enough low end. It's not for subtle overdrive though. I can e-mail you some samples if you want.

Yea I'm looking at the box of rock too but it seems more of an overdrive.

He said the boost was just a clean volume boost.

The sansamps are not good for distortion. The MXR M-80 has more balls. I am getting a Malekko B:assmaster for that purpose. I hear the SWR interstellar overdrive is a killer for overdrive sounds, if you can find one.

Justin "Ask a Pro!" Meldal-Johnsen is an avid GT2 user, I believe.

I don't know from your description if this is the sound you want, but the Fulltone Bass Drive is high on my gas list as it can be subtle or in your face and has a boost switch to help you make the change. I have only played it in-store as I ran out of stuff I can justify selling to buy it, but if an overdrive sound with a range of subtle to WALL O' DISTORTION with playing dynamics is what you seek, try it.

The bass drive didn't get as harsh as i wanted but you should definitely check it out since we probably have different tastes

Judging by some of the harsh clips of the bassdrive, I don't think the Box of Rock would get harsh enough for you.

I haven't used the GT2, that seems like it's more of a harsher distortion than the BDDI could muster. However, I do use the BDDI, and I can get some great distortion tones out of it, from subtle to fairly ballsy. The key is what you run into it. A clean boost will help get some extra distortion out of it, but what can work even better is another distortion. I have a cheap Danelectro bacon 'n' eggs distortion pedal, it sounds like crap, ridiculously treble-heavy by itself, but run into the BDDI gets some of the best distortion I've ever heard. So try it with your ODB, you might get some cool sounds out of it.

Maybe if I get a chance I might upload some clips of the BDDI/BNE's super distortion tone.

Just my .02
