sansamp and the low b-string

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got a sansamp di deluxe. The distorted signal seems to jumble up when I go down to the low b-string on my 5 string. Is this common? I'm also tuned down a whole step(yeah I know...), so it's really a low a. Right now I'm running it between my bass and my preamp. Would it help any to run it through the effects loop?

Never had a problem with playing a 5-string through my unit. I use the dirt on a couple of my band's songs and the low B just growls ...

never had that issue with my programmable sansamp bddi either. handles a low b and even lower with no such problems. have you tried it with another bass/cable/battery/amp to make sure its not something else?

My primary bass is in the shop. So it might be that I'm not so much in love with the sound of my back-up bass anyway. I'm gonna swap the battery, even though it passed the tongue test:-) I've always had a hard time being happy with the tone of a distorted bass. I go through this about every 2 years. I'll buy some pedal, di, etc. and then not be happy with it until I sell it. It also seems like the sansamp sounds better on slower material. The really fast, thrashy stuff doesn't sound good at all.
