Tech21 already posted that info earlier in the thread. I think it was for a low end roll off and more upper mids. An even more aggressive sound for od.

+1, but I don't think it attenuates or boosts anything. Have you seen the frequency curves posted here on the VT? Basically, there's a little low end attenuation, and a lot of high end attenuation over 5k. But there's a huge ramp up into the 3.2k range on the VT. It looks like one of those giant motorcycle ramps. That's really where the VT's "bite" has always been, so it makes sense for them to add a button that adds that, but then turning it off hopefully drops that curve way down. One of the drawbacks of the original VT's is that cutting the treble, even all the way counterclockwise, does not take the frequency response of the upper mids below unity gain. At best, it just flattens out that top end a bit.

If the Bite switch now makes the voicing a little wider and a bit more neutral, then it opens up the EQ adjustments to do things that the VT previously could not do. It sounds very promising.

Same boat except I bought two. Might have to upgrade to these new units when they come out.

Thanks Eublet, I hope you're right about the bite switch. I like the lows on the VT bass compared to the para driver which is centered a bit lower. I prefer not to cut lows as much as I do on the Para driver & the highs are very similiar on the para driver & the VT bass V2 speaker sim switch in bypass mode. I would probably use all of these new features on the VTDI. It sounds like I would get a preffered low end frequency & more even highs with a blend to balance with the sansamp voicing on the VTDI, & only losing some midrange control in comparing it to the Para driver.

Effects Loop

Will there be an effects loop in the VT Bass DI? TRS?
Sweetwater has it listed in the features.

No loop in this one but, next year they will release the 3 channel version with one. And then the year after that will be some sort of mid. Marketing baby.

Seems like I'll be putting off my Vintage Microtubes purchase in order to get one of these babies. Nothing against Doug, this thing just seems like a ridiculously utilitarian piece of gear. I was looking at the v2 VT Bass anyways, so this thing is a no-brainer. I'm hoping it will replace my DHA, which is nice but just isn't giving me the drive tones I'm looking for (heresy, I know.) Yes, I'm the kind of person that isn't satisfied until I have one thing that does it all

I know that my last post sound kind of jerky but, I still think this is going to be a really good pedal. I still may get one for my acoustic rock gig.

Another nice and easy option would be a switch/button that gives at least 2 options for the mid freq. center... 3 would be better!

How about 5? Seems like I've seen that somewhere. Maybe an Ampeg?

A mini-knob (like the mix on the ParaDriver) for the mid frequency would be perfect and easy to squeeze in.

mid

The main issue with the mid is that it is very wide so, alittle plus or minus can add or remove frequencies that you didn't want to touch.

Hard to believe there are no videos of the new VT from NAMM out there anywhere.

Seriously. Regardless, I just preordered mine from Sweetwater. If everything goes right, I should get it just in time for my birthday... in June.

I'm waffling on ordering it so early. 95% of the time, I find that the original VT and the VT Deluxe leave little for me to want in a pedal designed to sound like a vintage rig. Having a dry EQ option might make this pedal worth it, as would the ability to disengage some of the VT's Bite and blend that in with the dry signal. However, I've grown to love the presets on the VT Deluxe, even though I never change them during the gig. It's just nice to plug in and know that your settings are right regardless of what the knobs say.

I'm so confused.

Glad that I'm not the only one. Perhaps we should form a support group.

Tech 21 are like the Apple of the music world. Making and selling the same thing over and over again....
And yes, I have owned a few Sansamps. Every one has been sold. The only one I thought was any good was the original VT Bass pedal, and even that went to a better home.

I'll pass, I think!!!
