Sansamp PBDDI into RBI: Cool, or stupid?

I did a search on this and didn't find very much, so here's the issue:

I just got an RBI, and I'm really digging it. The initial plan was to run a multi-fx pedal into the front end for a few effects, but mostly to balance out gain and eq for my various basses. Turns out, however, that my much-considered choice of multi-fx (Rocktron Utopia B100) may be too noisy for my liking (further testing on that soon).

So what I'm currently considering is ditching the multi option, going for some individual pedals, and getting a programmable BDDI to run into the front end of the RBI. The RBI would be on all the time, and the PBDDI would be to get different gain and eq settings for different basses.

Does anybody know if that's a workable idea? Would it be too noisy? Would I get some weird sound by chaining one sansamp into another? Any ideas you have here would be great--I really need to figure this out.

(By the way, I considered some other options, like a bassbone--but I really need at least three programmable settings, not just two.)

I suspect it would render your RBI as a pointless aparatus. The differences between your RBI and PBDDI are almost negligable. Why not just use your programmable?

Yeah, I thought about that. The thing is, I want a regular preamp in my rack because for certain gigs, it would be nice to do it without the pedal board--good and simple.

Just having a bit of a dialogue with myself here, but for what it's worth, I decided to go against it. I played around with my TRI-AC into the rbi today, and it added some hiss and other junk in there that I really didn't want. So I figure the PBDDI would have similar issues.

The solution to the multiple bass problem I've arrived at instead is: Boss EQ-20. That should work nicely.
