Hey everyone,

Just got a SansAmp Programmable Bass Driver DI for Christmas and have been messing around with it. Last night I had my first rehearsal with an OLP MM 5 plugged into the PBDDI into the FXs loop on my SWR SM900 into an Ampeg 8x10. Medium to loud band (2 guitars with 4x12s) and the sound that did it for me was:

Gain hard left
Bass hard right
Trebel hard right
Presence hard right
Blend hard right
Level 12:00 o'clock with the 1/4 inch Boost pushed in straight into the FXs return on the amp (no SWR Pre-amp).

Not very inventive settings I know,... but sure was powerful and fun. I was looking for some suggestions.

Also, I'm not so sure about the programmable part - the reason being that you seem to need to turn a dial "more than a bit" to get the unit to
realise that you're turning it. Have you ever had this problem? Maybe with other digital devices? Same thing with the ME-50B when it is in "memory" mode. I find the PBDDI hard to "tweak" a little bit.

Thoughts? Thanks,

Benner

I use mine more as a grit channel, but:

Drive: 10:00. Gives some bite to the sound, but not over the top.
Bass: 12:00.
Treble: 11:00. The SansAmp is said to suck mids, and I'm not worried about EQing on the Sansamp itself. I leave them at about 12 which is no boost no cut.
Presence: 1:00. Again a little over 12 for some extra grit.
Blend: 2:00. Like I said, using as a dirtbox mostly, so I keep the blend a little over half. Keeps some of my main tone but adds that edge to it.
Level: 1:00. To keep the volume the same on or off. Or if I'm feeling saucy maybe to have slight increase in volume.

I think the need to turn the dial more is to make sure the pre-set isn't changed because one of the knobs gets bumped. You'll notice when you turn the knob the LED will start flashing. The quicker it flashes, the closer you are to the current presets level on that knob.
