Sansamp Popping

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys,

I got a Sansamp programmable DI box, and for the first week or so running directly into garage band made impressive results. Now, however, there seems to be lots of popping noises when I'm playing into it. I tested the connections, and when I'm plugged straight into the box into the Mac there is none of the popping. I have also changed cords, and there are still noises. The ground level hum is normal, but there are those popping noises, which sound a bit like a loose jack, but the jack seems fine into an amp or directly into the computer. Any suggestions?

Take it to the store and exchange it for a new one if it isn't too late. Otherwise, did you check the jacks on the DI to see if they were loose at all? Have you checked your outlets for ground issues?

One little thing, if you're hitting the magnets with the strings, that could cause more noise with the DI I would think, since the gain would be higher. Could it be you're just hearing that? Just a thought.

I wish it was just the pole pieces. The thing is, when it's not plugged through the DI it doesn't make the noise. It was a used unit at GC, and for the first week or two it's been fine. Jacks seem to be solid on the thing, and other than the popping when I'm playing it sounds good.

try re-saving your settings. I noticed popping on mine whenever I moved the knobs (and the led's blink), and it would increase the more I moved knobs around. But it would go away once I double tapped the stomp switch.

There could be a number of reasons for the popping sound. Are you leaving the pedal in edit mode? This means the LED's are flashing which can come through the output of the pedal. Make sure you always save an edited patch to avoid this.
