Sansamp Programmable -- EUB + 5er

Good afternnon, TBers:

We were in the studio working on the new album. During the course of tracking 10 or 11 tunes, I decided that the Ergo wasn't right for some songs. So, I went back in and cut bass tracks with my Ibanez 5er.

Now, "the Boss" wants me to bring the 5er to the gigs, and switch back and forth depending on the song. (I probably should have been doing this all along, but you know how it is -- I'm lazy).

My question: If I run the Ergo and the 5er into an A/B box, then into the turner, then into a Sansamp programmable, then to the house, will I be able to switch back and forth without too much re-EQing hassle? I'm thinking I can program one channel of the Sansamp for the 5er and one for the Ergo, and stomp on whichever button corresponds to the bass I'm playing.

Anyone else running this kind of setup? Any pitfalls I should be aware of?

Thanks,

~John

EBS MicroBass II? You could do away with the AB switch entirely as it's already built in, it has a DI output, good EQ controls and ch.A has a 10M input impedance purpose built for piezos (if your EUB has them!)

That's a good possibility I hadn't thought of. Thanks!

Nice unit but good grief they're expensive! You could but a decent combo amp for that price!

No disrepect intended toward you niftydog, but my suggestion would be an A/B pedal (I've used a BOSS AB-2 for a long time and it is well built and durable) and add a simple EQ pedal if you need to.

In my own set up I was using a passive 4 string and an active 5. I set my amp EQ for the 4 and then tweaked the EQ on my 5 string to optimze it's tone. You mighth find it satisfactory to do the same.

Also check out the BigShot pedals by Radial they may have something that will fit your needs. I'm looking at their AB-Y for a dual rig setup I'm putting together.

Cheers!

I'm now looking at the Radial Bassbone, instead of the Sansamp. It's not that much more expensive, and it would combine a couple of steps in the signal chain.

Thanks for the responses. Anyone have any more suggestions?
