Sansamp RBI trouble

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok so I received my Sansamp RBI yesterday and got a chance to use it just now. I plugged it in and attempted to run it through my Hartke HA5500 effects loop. It failed to work. Then I decided to run it through the normal HA5500 input. It worked for 10 seconds, then stopped working. Now it won't even turn on.

It's fitted into my rack unit, but I can't find an input on the back of the HA5500 (which is rack mountable, seems silly to not have a back input) making it run through the front input makes it look messy, but it doesn't matter anymore because my brand new RBI is broken.

I would guess that the fuse is blown. I can't return the item because I bought it from overseas, and I don't know how much a repair would cost.

Also, the RBI sounded really quiet for the time I had it working. Could it just be shoddy equipment?

essentially I'm asking 2 questions here.

1) Is there any way that I can hook it up to the back of my Hartke HA5500.

2) What could the problem with the RBI be?

Many thanks to anyone with suggestions or ideas.

Hmmm....does the RBI work on its own when run into a mixer?

If not, perhaps a power issue (the AC input on the RBI)?

Maybe a solder joint went cold, or (like you suggested) a fuse went. Maybe something got loose in transit?

Email info@tech21nyc.com ... they're very helpful and prompt with repair questions.

Ok so I found out what the problem was. Since I ordered the unit from the US to the UK, it was set up with the incorrect voltage. Basically, I blasted it with double power without realising. The wiring has been completely fried so I've had it sent away to be rewired.

However, I still can't find an input on the back of my Hartke. I'm starting to wonder if there even is one. Surely running the RBI through the effects loop should work though?
