Sansamp Repair question?

Sign in to disble this ad
For all of those who have been involved with a repair or dismantling of the bddi, I just recently in a fit of customization tried to dismantle the bddi so I could fit a roll bar and led bezel.

Needless to say I am angry and embarassed, I decided scrap the idea because everything is soldered in and i cant get the board out.

Now I cant get the switch back in, its not like a typical 3pdt, it has a locking washer that holds it in on the back side, I cant get it back in, any tricks, or am I screwed?

A roll bar????
Are you using it for a dune buggy? Baja?
I've never heard of pedal roll ... is that like neck dive? Sounds serious!
And an LED bezel?

I've been using my BDDI for hundreds of gigs on many stages in many clubs for over 4 years and it has never had a problem, even without a roll bar.
It's been hit with beer a few times and I once spilled a big pitcher of water into it when it was in my old Boss pedalboard (the kind that doesn't drain out liquids). The next day I opened up my pedals, dried off the circuit boards and brushed off any weird powdery dry crap that was forming and the pedal has never had a problem. Even without a roll bar

For your problem, just look at it and figure it out.
You can get the board out too. It's probably held into the box with nuts on the pots and maybe also the jacks (if they're pcb mounted). So take off the knobs, remove the nuts and the board should come out.
And whatever you do, GET THAT ROLLBAR INSTALLED ... never compromise on that

Nope, I tried that as well some time ago, its not that easy! The board won't come out when you remove the knobs and nuts. The jack's are mounted to the board AND the box - it almost seems you have to destroy the box or unsolder the jacks from the board just to get it out of the box.

If someone can figure it out, I'd like to know also!

the roll bar was for stomping purposes, i was adjustingthe knobs via my big shoes, as I use it for my grindy rex brown tone only, and need to engage it with out ramping up the level on accident

i feel pretty stupid for doing what I was trying to do, but trying to set my bddi apart (if it is necessary) felt necessary.

sorry, i build efx in my spare time, and mod muffs pretty regularly, but this box seems to be built from the inside out

and now my bddi is in pieces because of the switch

I am serioulsy about 30 mins from jb welding the switch in

Before you break out the blow torch, take a deep breath!

I had some questions about the Sansamp several months ago, and their customer service really went above & beyond in helping me out. The fellow I both talked to on the phone and traded e-mails knew that thing inside and out, and he loved talking about it!

Send them an e-mail and describe the situation. Hopefully they shed some light on your problem.

My 2¢

Stewie, you're judgmentally quoting bible verses and you don't even know how to read!
