Sansamp vs Sansamp

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys - just a quick one - Christmas coming soon and i am gonna splash out on myself seeing as i been such a good boy this year and just wanna pose a few questions to the ol fountain of knowledge here at tb.

So the choices are Sansamp Bass Driver D/I. Para Driver or Programmable Bass Driver..

I see they are much loved here and it'll definately be one of those..

The question i have is: Is the Programmable basically the BDDI with three channels you can preset - in other words it doesn't have the mid scoop feature of the para driver and is that really an issue as i read that you can scoop the mids on the BDDI anyway by adjusting the treble/bass settings.

In my shoes which one would you buy??

Many thanks your input will be greatly appreciated.

Most people on TB seem to prefer the VT Bass over either of those two pedals. You might want to check it out.

-I own the Programable BDDI and love it.-yeas its baiscly a BBDI that you can save snapshots of your settings on 3 channels and also have no channel selected for a bypass tone.

-The BBDI has a pretty severe mid scoop going on right out of the gate which is apparent when you set everything eq related at 12 o'clock. you can overcome this to some degree by cutting bass and prescence to taste but a mid scoop is just the way it is meant to be voiced to me.

-I spent a little time on a para driver and while the mid shift option is nice and offers a bit more tonal control with being able to make a mid boost at a specific Q factor an easier task, I still like the BBDI for MY sound. It just sounds right to me.

(SX PJ stock is what I am playing if it matters.)

I might consider switching if tech21 comes out with the programmable VT bass DI. That would be one sick sick pedal.

I'd get the programmable. I can't stand knob-twiddlin' in the middle of a set...

Thanks very much guys - yeh i reckon programmable is the way to go - also hate knob fiddling in the middle of a set - And to be honest here in small town South Africa the options are limited, what i mean is no VT Bass available but anyway i like the idea of dialling in three different sounds and having them at your toetips lol.. I was just worried i might miss the mid scoop on the Paradriver.

But yeh thanks for the input guys lotsa food for thought...

Swordfish apparently is the 'codename' for a programmable VT-bass... inside Tech21. No real details or timeframe or anything on it.
