| I have both and they are the two most used pedals on my board. The BDDI gives me a clean tone with the instant ability of adding mild dirt when I need it. It is my almost always on pedal...on about 70% of the time. I run my Ken Smith basses through it. The VT is another pedal is it is almost always on when I use the P and the J basses. Because I don't have an Ampeg SVT amp, this little beauty gives me the best amp simulation.
The only thing I have to complain about the VT, which isn't really a problem but I like to complain, is the fact that there is no xlr on it. But like I said, it really isn't a problem. I run it through a Radial or a Countryman DI.
I've run both pedals straight to a power amp, Aguilar DB 750, and they work flawlessly! And I've run them straight to a mixer, flawlessly!!
I guess to answer your question, the BDDI can give you a clean and mildly dirty tone. The VT will give you a true SVT tone...if that's what you're looking for.
