Sansamp VTBDI + B3k or Darkglass B7K?
A little background:
I'm about to play in a Pantera tribute band on the 25th of this month and while it may be a one time thing, It is also posible I replace the current bassist on a friend's original band.
In any case, I had already decided I was going to get a Darkglass B7K for the beautiful ballsy unique sounds you can get out of it and the versatility of it's EQ. But with the release of the VTBDI I figured I could get closer to the sound I'm looking for ( I was dead set on de vt bass when I saw that demo on youtube, THAT'S THE SOUND I said, but then came the B3K and ruined my wallet's dreams) a little bit sooner at almost half the price and then get a B3K later on thus having a DI box that can emulate an SVT while getting the kick in the teeth from the B3K later on when I save enough for it.
This option is more expensive, and it will take me longer to get the Darkglass sound I'm after, but I could get some pretty sweet tones out of it anyway and that's why I am considering it.
Now gettin de B7K will be cheaper but take a bit longer to get the DI I'm going to be needing in both scenarios, but it'll come with the DI+Darkglass sweetness in one swift volley.
I currently have an Acoustic B100 combo (older ones) and borth guitarists play through a Bugera trirec and Peavey Valveking through 4x12's. However I am so blessed they want to sound good and not loud. They rarely go full blast and they are aware there's no need for it, so that's the good thing. The bad one is the amp. I can't seem to get the sound I'm after for both scenarios, so it would end up being a stage monitor for either DI box while feeding the DI to the PA while I get a good amp and head in a distant future.
So that's pretty much my dilema. What say you Talkbass?
Someone here said these wise words, they are now my sig. "Sometimes people suck.."
