School me on Dealy Pedals?

Sign in to disble this ad
I has my sights set on a TC Flahback, for the reverse. And the tone prints seems awesome. But I noticed that the Boss DD-7 also does Reverse. And Im watching a Hardwire Delay Pro Guitar Shop review on youtube (YouTube - ‪Hardwire DL-8 Stereo Delay Looper Pedal‬‏) and now I just dont know what to get.

The Flashback seems really new and has a TON of features. The boss is well a boss so im pretty sure that its a solid pedal but i dont think it has many features as the others. And the hardwire series seems really cool and well made. So now i dunno whch one to get.

can someone school me on this?

note: looking to use it with reverb for shoegazeing. so i guess keep that in mind.

granted. Seems like a nose to nose finish to me (thats a saying right?).

I heard you cant adjust the delay modes with the flashback, like speed and what not and that they are more like presets.

I think you can do that with the Hardwire which would be a big plus since I love as many options as possible on my pedals. But the flashback has a ton of them already, i just wouldnt be able to change the presets.

FWIW I was thinking of getting a flashback more-so up until tonight

I have the DD-7 and its doing a great job. But, I'd say go with the flashback to save some space on your pedal board : / really

The Boss DD-7 does me fine for *my* needs. Tap tempo, reverse, pseudo-analogue (certainly good enough for live gigs), a basic looper, and, errr, normal digital delay. And expression pedal control.

If I want to get all snobby and boutique'y I'll drag out my original Watkins Copicat tape echo.

Idunno I think im gonna go with the hardwire or Flashback. the boss seems to stock.

does anyone know how either of the above two pedals (excluding the boss) handles heavy fuzz?

I have the hardwire. Amazing pedal, has everything you'd ever need in a delay, and more. The modulation setting is heavenly with my guitar.

o nice, yea i might get the Hardwire Reverb and Delay.

Do you ever run OD/Distor/Fuzz through your delay?

also does it even matter with a delay if your using a dirt pedal, tone suck wise/them being able to handle it

I just picked up the tc repeater for $80 on Craigslist, it looks complex but is actually very simple with just a few minutes of review(reverse is the feature I've used the least so far because its been difficult for me to get a sound I like with it... I'm working on it.). Sounds great with my bass at extremely loud distorted volumes. It appears to be a more feature laden version of the flashback with a bigger footprint and tap tempo(which.I need more practice at)... only works well at loud volumes with a 12V adapter. I love the sub division feature, there are more options on the repeater, but the flashback seems to have the best of them on it.

I expect this is what he has in mind:

From Wikipedia

Shoegaze:
Common musical elements of shoegazing consist of distortion, droning riffs and a " wall of sound" from noisy guitars.

I intend to use it for like yea the above definition of shoegaze. Also Tool or Isis tone, which is delay and a lot of treble. I guess though trying to my tone out of it would be heavy fuzz and wah at times with reverb. Ranging from soft creamy ambient stuff to really heavy crushing fuzz stuff.

so im hoping the Hardwire or Flashback can handle fuzz.
