Holy crap! Anyone want a PLL?

November 11, 2009

Schumann Electronics Corp. is very pleased to announce the issue of a brand new line of effects pedals. Along with the continued production of improved versions of our classic line of pedals listed on this site, we will be introducing some exciting new unique hand wired products that are guaranteed to blow you away!

Contrary to rumors, John Schumann is alive and well and in the final phase of prototype detailing. He is not now nor was he ever dead, in a state of suspended animation or living as a recluse huddled around his cast iron stove in an 8 x 8 windowless shack in some remote area of the Alaskan tundra. John has taken the past several years investigating the landscape of the vast unexplored regions of the analog electronic universe making many exciting discoveries and innovations along the way. In short, Schumann Electronics has been on an extended hiatus without ever having the intention of closing up shop forever. So for those of you who have been waiting for the opportunity to finally acquire an authentic premium quality, all American, hand wired Schumann Effects Device, the wait is soon coming to an end. Check back frequently for the launch of our brand new Schumann Electronics Internet Storefront. Just keep in mind that since all our products will continue to be 100% hand loaded, wired, soldered, assembled, individually tested and fine-tuned, initial available inventory quantities may run a bit short of the demand. In any event, we are committed to produce the finest quality original design electronic gear that will prove to be completely unrivaled by any cheep counterfeit or cloned copy.

Thanks to all of you musicians and musical equipment aficionado whom have helped to perpetuate the legend around these legendary pedals!

Cool - I wonder if he's been spending his time learning how to wire up a pedal neatly!

Were his pedals always expensive or did they just rocket up in price when they went out of production?

If there are no prices listed, you know they're not cheap. Crud.

Grygrx says damn this morning. But maybe he'll be able to get all the accessories for his PLL, and get it fixed up.

I'd never heard of it, so I googled, and ended up at grygrx's video. Very interesting pedal but more importantly: What a cute dog!

Clearly the Schumann lineup will be divided betwixt days of pre- and post- Dog of Grygrx, with all participants of both camps defending their heritage with poise, fervor, and solder.

strange thing is wiring like that is more sonically sound that neat wiring sometimes. Although i thought he would take more pride in his work considering the kind've status he has.

Wow, those pictures make me ill. They look like something you'd expect out of a 16 year old working in his basement.

If I remember right, they were in the 200 to 300 dollar range, depending on the model. This was 10 years ago, though.

HOLY F***ING S***!!! I need a PLL NOW!

I feel as sorry for Grygrx as everyone else, but does anyone think that maybe, just MAYBE, his review of it sparked some renewed interest in the pedal and the company in general? I had never heard of Schumann or the PLL until the Bassfuzz review, and I (like to think I) know a lot about pedals, even obscure boutique ones, and after seeing the review, I kind of wanted one, and now that the company is back up, I REALLY want one, and I doubt I'm the only one who feels this way.

I mean the company was defunct for 4 or 5 years, and then 2 weeks after THE site for bass effect reviews makes a video of the pedal, they suddenly start production again. I know John was "investigating the landscape of the vast unexplored regions of the analog electronic universe," and that very well may be true, but don't you think this might have convinced him to start making pedals again? The timing just seems a little suspicious, you know?

So if my suspicions are right, thanks for taking one for the team grygrx. If I'm wrong, I wouldn't have noticed this thread, so thanks.

I'll believe it when it happens! I was reading TGP last week and a new member started posting who knew a lot about Schumann, his gear, his personal character, his financier that was supposedly getting the business going again, etc.... the posts were deleted by a mod for inappropriate comments (threats to a prospective cloner) and then this announcement a few days later... so who knows. I'd love to see some of his creations on the market, and would surely try one out at some point in the future if they become available again and I can afford.
