SE-70 and VF-1 are the goods

Great little modules. The distortions are crap, but nearly everything else is good. Delays, reverbs, touch wahs, octaves, phasers, flangers, synths, arpeggiators.... once you chase out the noise caused by the distortions, the rest of the effects sound great.

I have a VF-1 page with sound samples and patches shared. Check my sig below.

I had a SE-70 for a while. I found the bypass tone had better low end retention, but the drive FX weren't much better sounding to my ears even though they were supposedly analog instead of fully digital like the VF-1. My biggest recall with the SE-70 is the synth FX on that box had an ungodly amount of parameters you could control from suboctaves, to different waveforms, etc. Neither really track bass that well though.

I'm finding that the SE-70 tracks well if you feed it adequate signal level. The tradeoff is that you then do not want it passing any un-effected signal! Because signal adequate to correctly track the bass overloads the dry, and it comes out awful.

Fortunately I'm running it thru a line mixer arrangement that allows correct levels.
