Seamoon Funk Machine

Hi All,

Anyone have one of these and describe how it sounds?

I just got one. It's the original version with the one knob on the side. It doesn't sound like it's working right. For the first 2/3 of the knobs travel it sounds like the filter isn't opening at all at the 2/3 point it suddenly opens, but loses all bottom and is very distorted the quickly snaps back to the closed sound as the signal decays.

Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks for any help,
Chris

Yeah, that's how other people have described them as well.

According to this page there's an internal preamp switch--maybe try flipping that to see if it helps.

The Funk Machine was designed by Craig Anderton--maybe he can help you.

Thanks. I've emailed him. The preamp switch just makes matter worse, the filter never opens.

I remember having one ( in the days that it first came out) and remember it being VERY sensitive. Hard to tell whether you had it in the sweet spot or not 'til you started playing. Much better stuff out there these days

I know nobody wants to hear this, but try searching for prior threads on this subject. The reason I say it now is that in the past threads I've seen, most of the comments on the Seamoon have been negative. There was one guy who liked it, and I don't think he was a regular here anyway. IOW sell it to a Deadhead guitarist, since Jerry used one, and get yourself a better quality filter for bass.

I've wanted to try one forever (I mean, it is called funk machine), but really it seems to be an expensive collector piece.

I tried a search before I started this thread, found exactly 13 threads on "Seamoon" with some people raving about it ,a couple of others not knowing anything about it at all and a couple saying its touchy and sensitive. Unfortunately, none of the ravers described the sound or how it works.

I guess I'll go look for one of those deadheads. Where do they hang out these days?
